V4 Bend Morph: A Guide to Enhance Your 3D Characters with Bending and Twisting

It isn't so much bending the leg further, it is the distortion that results from doing this. There are several new pose helpers at Renderosity, by Xameva =657881 , that are really great! But I use poser, so if you use DS I would suggest you write them about their products use in that program before your purchase. They are very nice and very helpful!

... on the Parameters tab, at the far right there is an icon which looks like a small triangle and a bunch of horizontal lines. If you click that, you'll find the option to turn off Limits Off (Rotation) (which will allow you to bend legs past the 100degree mark). Or, you can click on the little "cogwheel" to the right of each parameter and select "Parameter Settings...", which will allow you to turn off the limits for just that parameter. Either way, you'll be able to bend the legs to anything you desire (even physically impossible angles).

You need to use the Generation X 2 Plug in (and the Genesis 2 and 3 expansions) to get the V4 morph onto Genesis 3, and then use either --genesis-3-to-genesis-8-converter or -converter-from-genesis-3-female-to-genesis-8-female to get from G3F to G8F

Probably yes, particularly for head morphs, although I don't own that converter, so I can not say what it is like. The converters tend to struggle for more extreme morphs, but if yours are for non-stylised humans, you should be alright..

The reason I use the export-import with Shape Rigger is that XTransfer has problems with GenX morphs. By exporting and reimporting them, they work just fine. I have not tried using the Riversoft converter on a GenX morph as yet.

William Sheldon first introduced the term mesomorph in the 1940s as one of three body types, or somatotypes. These somatotypes are general categories that many people might feel describes their body type.

Mesomorphs tend to be athletic and strong due to their high muscle-to-fat ratio, which might give them a muscular chest, shoulders, and limbs. Their weight distribution around the body is usually relatively even.

People with a mesomorph-type body gain muscle and weight easily. Typically, they are able to lose weight quickly, but they can also find it easy to gain fat. Therefore, mesomorphs may need to watch their calorie intake or stay active to avoid gaining weight. A combination of weight training and cardio usually works best for mesomorphs.

People with mesomorph-type bodies tend to be suited to sports and have good posture. For example, many studies suggest that athletes in basketball, boxing, martial arts, strength training, swimming, track and field, and volleyball typically have mesomorphic characteristics.

In reality, many people might have a combination of these different body types. For example, ecto-endomorphs keep more fat on their lower body and have thinner upper bodies. This weight distribution creates a pear-shaped figure.

The best diet for a mesomorph will depend on their health or fitness goals. Mesomorphs tend to gain weight easily. Therefore, they may need to be careful to eat a healthful and balanced diet or keep active to avoid excess body fat.

According to the American Council on Exercise (ACE), the calorie needs of people with a mesomorph body type are slightly higher than those of people with other body types. They generally respond better to higher protein diets.

A healthful diet should include a variety of foods. For mesomorph body types, the ACE suggest splitting meals into thirds: one-third protein, one-third vegetable (or fruit), and one-third whole-grain carbohydrates (or healthful fats).

Everyone has a different body type. Some people will feel that theirs is closest to a certain type, such as mesomorphic. Others might feel as though they have a combination of body types or do not fit into any category.

Being familiar with their somatotype may help a person determine their health and fitness goals. For example, mesomorphs may require more calories than others and may find it easier to gain lean muscle mass if they perform certain exercises.

Make sure the Genesis figure has all the morphs turned off and all the joint parameters are set to zero. From the Main Menu Bar, select Edit > Figure > Zero > Zero Figure. It should also be at it's zero position in the scene space. In the Parameters Tab, select Tab options. Change the Resolution Level to Base, and set the subdivision level to 1. (See Illus. 1)

From The Main Menu Bar, select File > Export... Export out the Genesis Base as an .obj file. If possible, use DAZ Studio scale. A dialog box will open up with several options available. (See Illus. 2) These options will be sufficient for making a new character morph for Genesis. Save the obj in a safe place.

Keeping the character's size relative to the size of Genesis is also a good idea. It helps with clothing projection, making it more accurate and it is also easier making separate head and body morphs for new characters to work on Genesis.

If the character is meant to be much smaller or taller than the current Genesis height, scaling can be added in DAZ Studio to bring the character to the desired size. (The default child shape on Genesis was modeled at Genesis height and the scaled down in Studio to 54 percent. The scaling was linked to the child morph dial).

A note on navels and nipples - Genesis characters tend to have the navel and nipples smoothed out when the model is finalized. The reason for this is to have the character play well with clothing projection. Separate navel and nipple dials can be provided for your character, which can be set in studio to not project into clothing. Also, avoid pinching edge-loops very close together to create detail. This will make the character less likely to blend well with other morphs and characters. One can still create extreme character shapes with these restrictions. The DAZ Gorilla and the Anubis character are examples of pushing the limits of the Genesis mesh. (see illus. 3)

After the character is complete, it can be loaded onto Genesis inside DAZ Studio 4 using Morph Loader Pro... Select on the Morph Loader Pro Icon, (see Illus. 4) this will open up an option box. Select Choose Morph Files. Import in at DAZ Studio Scale (If that is what the Genesis Base Mesh was exported at). The default settings are fine to use for now. It will place the new character morph into Morphs/Morphloader (under Parameters Pane) by default. (see Illus. 5) 2ff7e9595c
